Oh, yeah! Alright!
I never set out to become a Tom Petty fan, but I am. Big time. This past year I’ve had a lot to be excited about: a new album (produced by Jeff Lynne), a tour, and a documentary (produced by Peter Bogdanovich).
After a year of anticipation, Runnin’ Down a Dream came out. It is a 4-plus hour tour of the last 30 years of the Heartbreakers.
Like Willie Nelson, Tom Petty is someone I could hear talk for hours. It’s something about that resonant, slithery Cali-southern accent. But, Petty doesn’t do all the talking. The film is “narrated” by interviews from the Heartbreakers and their admirers. And there are quite a few.
But, I really don’t want to talk up the film here. Instead, I want to put up a big neon sign pointing to the trailer. Do they give Oscars for “Film Editing-Trailers”? They should. Watch.

I want to be Tom Petty! The coolest cat on the planet! Just added this to my Xmas request list. I’m glad they didn’t stick with “Mudcrutch”.
