PASTE to the rescue
I’m going to admit that I’m getting really lazy when it comes to keeping up-to-date on the latest in music, books, and film. I don’t have time to drive across town to one of the two remaining indie record stores and trying to traverse through all of the blinged- out/crybaby rock/snot pop rubbish out there in the “internets” is giving me metacarpal.
It’s PASTE magazine to the rescue! PASTE bundles up all the latest in “quality music across a broad stylistic spectrum–indie rock, Triple-A, Americana, folk, blues, jazz, etc.” and delivers it to my mailbox. Throw in their book, film, and gaming reviews and the fact my wife brings in the mail and I’m living the sweet life folks.
I have subscribed to Paste magazine since issue #2 and have read every one front to back. It’s put together in Atlanta and is starting to get national shelf space. The best part about Paste is the CD sampler which is included in each issue. You can checkout all of their previous sampler listing on their site to get an idea of what you’re in for.
Taking a cue from the latest Radiohead release they’re currently running a holiday promotion where you pay what you want for a one year subscription. I just renewed for $10 or half the regular price.

Hey Alan - welcome to RiffDraft!
I missed the name-your-price subscription offer which has expired. But if I subscribe now for the regular price of $19.95 it’s buy one, get one free.
I think magazine subscriptions are fun Secret Santa gifts because they don’t hit someone’s mailbox for awhile. Then, when it does start showing up, the person you subscribed spends a couple WTF days calling their friends trying to figure out what happened.
I was also interested to see the Jason Schwartzman interview in Paste’s Culture Club. I’m a dyed-in-the-wool wesandersonaphile. Thanks for the post.
