WW III

About a month ago, I was at one of my favorite record stores and came across the new Josh Ritter album. It was priced “$9″ and came with an extra CD. I wasn’t really in a Josh Ritter mood, but the price seemed too good to set it down. So I bought it. Once I got into my car, I popped it in and couldn’t get past 3 songs. I thought that maybe I had made a mistake. The music was fine, I just wasn’t in the mood for Josh Ritter, I guess.

This is not too much of a surprise. I was really impressed by his previous album, Animal Years. But, like so many other artists, I enjoy their albums on a cerebral level. Their albums don’t make a deeper connection that keeps me playing them over and over again.

Over the last month or so, I’ve put it in now and then , and I still listen to 3 songs and take it out. However, there is one song, “The Temptation of Adam,” that is really unique. It is perhaps the only romance-in-a-nuclear-silo love song you will ever hear. And therefore, the best…

My favorite part is how he sings WW III as “dubya dubya aye aye aye”.

Amazon has a live performance here.
